Hollywood Cookie Diet

What is the Hollywood Cookie Diet

The Hollywood cookie diet is a meal replacement plan which substitutes a 150 calorie cookie for both breakfast and lunch. In addition, a cookie is eaten as a mid-morning and post-lunch snack. For dinner, those on the Hollywood cookie diet may, theoretically, eat whatever they want, but the total calories allowed for dinner are limited to 800. Light to moderate exercise is encouraged on the Hollywood cookie diet, but no specific exercise plan is recommended.

How the Hollywood Cookie Diet Works

This diet works by substituting a cookie that is low in calories and high in protein and fiber for two meals per day. Two snacks consisting of one, 150 calorie cookie each are allowed per day. This means that the total calories consumed prior to dinner is 600, which is considerably fewer calories than most people consume through mid-day. For dinner, calories are restricted to 800. Although the options for dinner are open, a lean meat and some vegetables will use up the calorie allotment, which means that cooking with fats and adding sauces, etc. aren’t really an option.

What Experts Say about the Hollywood Cookie Diet

Most experts agree that a diet that severely restricts caloric intake is not good for sustained periods of time because it is difficult to get all of the vitamins and nutrients that the body needs on a limited calorie diet. Although the cookies contain vitamins and minerals, each cookie has about the same ingredients in it, which means that a lot of good foods are left out of this diet plan since dinner is the only meal open to a variety of foods.

Pros and Cons to the Hollywood Cookie Diet

One pro of the Hollywood cookie diet is that people that are on the go and tend to skip meals won’t have a problem grabbing and eating a cookie four times per day. Another plus is that, by eating cookies, for many the diet feels like you are being allowed to eat foods that don’t make you feel like you are on a diet. Many users of this diet plan find that they are not hungry after eating the cookies. Also, since each cookie is 150 calories and you eat four cookies per day, the only meal that you have to count calories for is dinner.  Since there are no restrictions on the types of foods you can have for dinner, your options are practically limitless.

On the other hand, many people tire of eating the cookies quickly since the variety is limited to chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and lemon. Some users find that it becomes almost a chore to eat the cookies after a few days; some users also find the cookies to have a chemical taste that is unappealing. At more than $1 per cookie, many people consider the cookies to be expensive, especially since lean meats and other ingredients must also be purchased for dinner. Many people find that they are not consuming enough calories to be able to exercise regularly, and most said they definitely could not increase their exercise regimen on this diet.
